I'm strongly considering getting the Scott National for my US Used collection. While considering that, I noticed it only starts in 1964. What analogous album is everyone using for pre-1964 US Used?

The Scott National covers the USA from the stamp issuing beginning. As such it must be broken into years range sections to fit standard sized binders. Edit: 1845-2020 runs 773 pages.

Are those early pages still available? The earliest I'm finding on Amos's site starts in 1964 and runs via supplements through 2024. I see as 1885 for back of book kinds of things, but I don't see any pre-1964 regular issues

Disregard - I just found it. If only Amos' site was easier to navigate

Actually this question is still valid, but slightly different because I was in error. The Scott National US Used singles albums seem to start in 1964. So they not exist earlier? Is the regular National appropriate for the pre-1964? Why does the National Used start in 1964?

The Scott/Amos website can be a fun challenge, but not in a good way.

I have always used the basic Scott National Album for mint and used. That said, I think 1964 is when we, the USA, started to issue se tenant stamp issues. Abused and misshaped English translation is more than one design of stamp in the pane. When collecting such beasts it is near impossible to find non-FD cancelled used blocks of all designs.

However with the Scott National I like blank pages as well. Those I use to mount items of interest which do not fit on the per-printed pages. For example I enjoy postally used plate number block of the National Park Series. If I found one, it went on a blank page in the area of the National Parks stamps. Later as I got my hands on old used albums I took the plate block pages from the Scott plate block album and used those instead. Except if my used block with plate number was larger than the normal plate block format.

I use the Scott national for my used US collection. And yes, it has all the pages back to 1845.

But I have had to supplement it.

I've bought some of their specialty pages, eg: booklet panes:

I bought pages for the US Proprietary Die stamps:

https://www.matchandmedicine.com/pr...s-and-pages/

and for Carriers and Locals:

https://www.pennypost.org/pdf/Carri...um-Pages.pdf

Then I've added home made pages for various oddities. Like the H rate post card stamp.

Lots of homemade pages for the more modern material like the modern imperf's. and the private perforated stamps of the early 20th century.

So now I am up to about 20 volumes....

To alub, I will add I have two brand new of the three volume set of the Scott Specialized Plate Number Coils. That cost me $10, binders included not that I expect to find the third volume at that price. I think now Scott only does the abridged version plate number coils but still as a stand alone.

Alub, does the original National have a pretty clean break at 1964 (despite it being in the middle of a set)? It seems like the best way to go is to use the original Nation for pre-1964 and then use the National Used Singles pages
