the upper left corner, the US IN looks odd and above it on the outer frame.

No, it appears that something damaged the plate. Still a nice variety.

My initial thought was rust on the plate, but that does not account for the gap in leg of the u. Plate damage it is.

Plate damage or inking anomaly IMO.

That said, there are a zillion and seven DTs on R15, R5, R6, and R13 that go far beyond what is listed in Scott.

I have a double transfer on the USIR in that upper left corner, but it looks very different from this stamp.

Here are some examples I have imaged with DT elements at upper left (amongst other places).

Also numerous examples on this unpublished page (warning: very large images, especially if you click on the pages to see them at 1600dpi):

The left stamp of the two slices is a very nice T15.

As is the image below it. Also, as you can see from the images, even though not explicitly listed in Scott, many of these double transfers can be found on R15d, the silk paper.

Very interesting material.

I enjoy seeing material still mounted on old album pages like that. At some point, you may have to consider removing for conservation, but its nice to see.

No surprise about the silk papers, this was a real workhorse stamp and probably almost the exclusive orange stamp issued for the last few years before the Second Issue came out.

I got the stamp in today. here are some more images. looks like an inking issue or damaged plate. but also looks like the S in US is partially doubled to me. bottom right looks like a tear in the 2 and a perf plug stuck to the two. I'll be listing later next month.
