Washington 1894 2c stamp with inverted single line S watermark. Do such stamps have a value? Also have noticed some irregularities at the word United especially in between the E and D. Wondering if it is created by the messed up postal cancel or an error. Will appreciate all comments and opinions. Thank you

I do not know what watermark you are seeing or what catalog or online reference you are using, but the single-line watermark is not introduced until 1910.

The advice given several weeks ago to obtain a scanner still advised.

I don't see a watermark either. I see the curve of the inked part inside the oval above the head showing through on the back.

I was mistaken about the single line. It is a double line S.

Above are scanned copies.Bottom 2 are pictures taken using lighter fluid.

Oh, that was a scanner image? You may be trying to scan beyond its real resolution capabilities.Ugh.

For the stamp in-fluid, I would also recommend the scanner with piece of black paper or plastic on top to provide the dark background.
Also to adjust the contrast and/or brightness until you get the best results. The point is not museum quality exposure, but maximum contrast.

None beyond the stamp itself.

Looks like an obvious double-line watermark from the images already uploaded.
