I have been doing some research online at the APRL and in the process I get to see older issues.

This is from November 1967.

Obervations:
1. Protective Mount ad (use same nmaterial as Library of Congress)
2. Fewer and smaller department reports
3. Includes literature reviews
4. Circulation was 18,500 (in one article) - so today still higher
5. Lot of ads (note page size was smaller then)
6. Election results had a position for director of international affairs, over 7000 voted more than today
7. APS budget $139,000
8.17,168 members, 211 members passed away that year, 193 new members
9. Fewer and small cover illustrations
10. Fiscal Philippine handbook serial (what I was after)
11. worldwide new issues listings with Black blot reports (ex. Bhutan girl scout issue, the "dune countries")
12. More articles but shorter
13. ad for Harris Senior Statesman album for $8.95.

With 75 views and no reply yet, let me ask: What is the point of this thread? It may belong in the APS forum.

It was just a view of APS and collecting in 1967.

I thought it was drawing attention to how AP has changed (in the eyes of some, "not for the better") over the years. I waited to see how others might take it before deciding to move it. It was around 5+ hrs and well over 100 views with no responses when I moved it. Maybe others weren't sure of the purpose either. Oh well.

I have not gone through enough AP issues (plan to read more) to know why APS stopped the Black Blot program, but likely because most issues would get the Black Blot rating. It is a look at the past as seen in the AP. It was a source for new worldwide stamp issue information.
