Hi everyone I'm new to stamp collecting need some help please.

A couple of years ago my postman was about to retire, and as I was showing an interest in stamp collecting, he gave me a Cardboard box full of stamps, envelopes, postcards , newspaper pages etc
(Yes I was very surprised as well....!)

I really don't know how to deal with all of these stamps. I think there are some very special ones in there but I'm not sure. I'm much more familiar with coins than I am with stamp collecting.

I'd love some advice on how to just start .....there are so many different types.
It seems like such a mammoth task..... Please help.

Welcome to the forum.

If the postmaster told you there are some really special ones in there, I would hope that they would have pointed them out to you. Why don't you post some scans or pictures of the ones you believe are oldest or have the most value, and we can offer our advice?

This is only one stamp. I'm sorry I cut it in half. I was struggling to make my photo the right size. I'm going to ask my son to help me add some later.

That looks like a replica/fake made with a dot matrix printer. Sometimes it is also marked on the back.

There are tutorials on the SCF homepage on how to upload photos. The free image optimizer can easily reduce your scans to the correct size.
