Exactly Jr. Ratfish, I created this for entertainment and that's surprising how bad can it go.

NSK, I don't think you correctly understand the rules Whatever, I think this quiz is supposed to be locked, because it's closed since yesterday.

If you wanted to talk about the rules, this thread is the wrong one, I already posted a thread about my quiz and its rules.

How on earth do you determine "closest" when the country has not been guessed but its seven neighbouring countries have all been guessed?

I do not know where you posted the other thread. It does not show in this forum, the recent new topics, or the recent active topics.

If nobody gets the right answer (Chile, 1901 for example) the closest guess (Argentina, 1890, for example) would have got a point, I didn't want people to have zero points in a game.

I took Partime's advice instead, but wasn't finding this rule really ''ridiculous'' and I don't understand why are you focusing on that so much. That's sad how posts, even the most relax quiz can turn out badly.

I hope you now understand what I meant about the points rule.

Once again; what if there had been guesses saying Perú, and Bolivia?

The best combination would be the winning guess. For example: Bolivia, 1900 is closer than Argentina, 1934, because the year is closer.

Captain - I love your enthusiasm and that you are taking this on. Much respect. That being said I will guess that your contest will quickly wither on the vine if people understand that being correct does not really matter. That makes the entire thing pointless. It is not a quiz where 1 + 1 = 2. 3 is also acceptable. That pitch over the plate could be a ball but we will call it a strike. I don't see how my POV can be taken as curmudgeonly. I really do not. Do as you wish since it is yours but don't expect it to draw much interest. Hope that I am wrong and one hundred people get one hundred points for not being correct.

rogdcam, thanks for the reply. I will follow Partime's advice and change that so nobody will get any point if the answer is completely wrong (no right year, no right country). Since aolsson said 1902 and it's from the 1901-1902 serie, he gets 1 point because the year is right.
