I have an 80 pfenning reichpost stamp of the german empire which seems to have darker and fatter lettering. Is this common on this stamp? I researched images online but couldn't find one which resembles this stamp. Here is a photo of the stamp next to the 25 pfenning stamp of the same series.

Here is a close up of the writing on my stamp:

Here is a photo of the stamp from the internet:

Does it look like the "s" is crooked?
Thanks for looking.

Hi Paid,

They're both thin lettering examples.

REICHSPOST in the thick lettering stamps is 12mm long and 1.5mm tall as opposed to 11.5mm and 1.25mm in the thin lettering.

The thick lettering stamps are also very very rare by comparison.

As for the crooked S we'd need a specialist to comment but I think it's just the way the stamp is inked.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Like Bobby, it is a normal Michel Nr.62. If you can have a better resolution to see the black plate will help. Varieties exist on the black plate. also on the color plate. I see may be a flatten O in POST.

The black frame around Germania is thinner on the variety thick REICHSPOST. Also almost no space between the frame before and after REICHSPOST.
