I can find no trace of this in Scott. Is it a useless revenue?

Probably a revenue, but hardly useless. They are quite beautiful and very collectible. There are websites online that catalogue these, though I have none available for you at the moment.

Actually a quick google search turned up this site.
Have a look through and see if you can find your stamp.

Also heres a good thread from a year or so ago here on SCF about these

I thank you for your response and am pleased the stamp is of interest to somebody. I should be pleased to donate it to you if you will tell me where to send it.

Hi Michael
Thanks for the offer. While I do have one or two of these, it's really not my collecting area, so I'll pass. Once you have the requisite number of posts maybe you can offer it as a giveaway. There may be others here who will be interested.

Hi Michael,

This is a revenue stamp from Hong Kong during Japanese occupation period, listed in Shimomura catalogue as GP 131 or 133. If the paper has some sort of watermark or mark pattern, its GP 133, if not, GP 131.

The Kanji characters could be read as :
(Top, from right to left) Hong Kong Occupied Territory Governor Office
(Middle, from top to bottom) 10 Sen
(Bottom, from right to left) Provisional Revenue Stamp

The Japanese occupation period of Hong Kong was from 1941 to 1945. Japanese revenues were imported and used first, followed by Japanese stamps and revenues with overprint. The present stamp belongs to the enxt generation, printed by Hing Kong goverment.

Regards, unechan

Saying "I don't know", is the beginning of wisdom.
It will never outshine the original Monkey, Sandy Pigsy and Tripitaka.....
