I would like to present and focus on Albert Decaris' output of stamps he designed/engraved for the French Colonies and those of Monaco.
Members input is encouraged and most welcome!

La beauté des couleurs se réflètent dans ces 3 timbres de Decaris, un artiste francais, médaillé d`or à Londres en 1948 (Olympiques).
Beauty of colours (colors)are appreciated in these 3 stamps from the great Albert Decaris, a French artist, engraver, painter and Olympic Gold Medallist at the '48 Olympics in London.

Upper Volta aka Burkina Faso

In 1919 the French territory of Volta was detached from the section of Upper Senegal and Niger. and made a separate colony. the colony was divided among its neighbors: French Sudan, Ivory Coast, and Niger Territory. The Republic of Volta was proclaimed December 11,1958; the name was changed to Burkina Faso on August 4, 1984.

When you mentioned that Decaris won a Gold Medal at the 1948 Olympics..i had to look it up..I wondered if he won it in fencing or maybe the marathon...then I was reminded that 1948 that the arts were included as part of the Olympic Games.
