Lovely page there Frank, beautiful script.
Must be pleasing to have your Dad's work on your desk.
And you, carrying on the hobby.

In my opinion circa 1949, was the apex of Australian stamp design.

Rod:

Here's a picture of the full page. Dad sliced a narrow strip out of the album page then reassembled the page using what was then simply known as sticky tape - I guess we would call it parcel tape now. This gave the pages a lot of flexibility so that the open album would lie flat. And it has stood the test of time. Sixty years later the pages operate as they should and not a single one shows any likelihood of separating into its component part.

The unfortunate thing is that I have no-one to whom I can pass the collection, so I am now in the process of selling/giving it off.

I have been doing a bit of reading about Steiner pages. I wasn't aware of these until I joined SCF. Doing my own album pages on a computer is something that I have always thought of doing, but never got round to it. Is my understanding correct that you need Adobe Pagemaker or InDesign to modify the pages? This alone, based on cost, would be enough to deter people. And CorelDraw is so much cheaper and, I am sure, quite capable of doing the job.

Frank.

Unfortunate indeed, Frank.
Something most all of us face, I have willed my collection to my Philatelic society. Hopefully the stuff will go to other like minded conservators.

I have never hacked Steiner Pages, as a worldwide collector, I have no time.
There are a few members here that alter pages I think, but if I were you, consider your time.

I sometimes buy part collections that have been beautifully prepared,
and someone, has just hacked off the pages with scissors,
it make me wince.

My Steiner pages are basic, but consistent, and the stamps preserved in mounts, in a good dry environment.

That's about the best I can do as a caretaker.

Good morning Al,
thank you, my guess is around mid 1990's

Al,
amongst your bits and pieces, you so generously donated,
I found an early 1949 Postal Note.
These reserve around $95 - $200

These may have slipped past you.
If you wish it back, please advise, and I'll drop it in the mail.
It makes no never mind to me, and it may finance another lot
of your specialty the KG5 sideface for your collection
