Well audetnelson1, I'm impressed. If I had that, or something like that, I'd keep it in my safe deposit box and I would see it maybe or 4 times a year.

Beautiful stamps gentlemen. Love that one dollar North Borneo.

Was unaware of the modern Canadian error, will have to search for that, great find.

On another note, I submitted in person nine stamps for expertization to the Philatelic Foundation today and will be happy to share those certs in this thread for everyone who has interest. I submitted a US #1, 2, 47, 72, 218/219, 243 and 245. As well as Canada #4,5 and 7?

Look forward to the results.

Herbert Bloch was a major philatelic expert in his time, so the probability of it being genuine is pretty high.

I started collecting when I was about 7, in 1957. When the St. Lawrence Seaway stamp was issued my dad (not a collector) heard about the error and knowing that my mother bought all the new issues for me asked me to check my St. Lawrence Seaway stamp to see if maybe it was an error. No such luck. Main problem was probably that we lived in California.

I previously posted this stamp a page or 2 back. I purchased from a seller on eBay and when the stamp arrived it was not the stamp shown in the listing. I contacted the seller who replied to my message within the hour. He then informed me that he had made a mistake and would resend the correct stamp and apologized. Out of the blue I received a full refund from the seller and the correct stamp arrived today. This is a seller that stands behind their sales and I'd happily buy from him again.

The correct stamp and a lovely one that will fit very nicely into my almost completed set.

As much as eBay is disparaged, and the notorious sellers which troll inexperienced collectors, it is great to be reminded that there are some honest sellers who still go above and beyond to make sure the buyer is truly happy.

I've purchased stamps which, when I received them, had been damaged in transit or sent in error. In only one instant did I have a seller who refused to acknowledge they had sent a stamp which was not pictured, and never had any question my report of damage in the mails. That one seller went on to bar me from his sales after eBay forced the refund, which was find with me, as I had no desire to deal with him again.

These honest sellers are the reason I continue to buy on eBay and still hold out hope that someday eBay will realize it is in their long-term best interest to weed out the snake-oil salesmen infesting their site.....one can always dream big!

I buy a lot of bits and pieces on eBay, mostly small scale stuff that I'm not too bothered if it's not quite what I expected. I am often amazed at the courtesy and friendliness of sellers, and 99% of the time I'm delighted with the way I'm treated.

For example, for a while I was buying packets of stamps from a guy that looked like he'd taken them out of old collections he'd been picking over. I mentioned to him in a message that I particularly liked stamps connected to railways and from then on he tried to use railway connected stamps on the envelopes. Sadly I think he died as he suddenly stopped trading, I never even got the last packet I bought.

Such kindness though to someone he only knew through the odd message and a bit of feedback. And to be honest I have almost always found people friendly and accommodating. And if I don't find them to be so, or I feel I've been misled, I don't ever buy from them again

Today arrived a FDC I bought to complete my collection of the 1993 10.00 GB stamp

I was very pleasantly surprised to find out it was the rarer one from Plate 2a with the extra fluorescent ten pounds.

Great Britain, Scott 179, Bradbury Printing. Note the Perfin, "Sutton Reading". (Perfin is recreated in correct orientation to make it more readable from the back.)

Australia 6d war savings, World War I:

I thought we had a thread here with the WWI war savings stamps, but I didn't spot it. I believe the design was taken from an essay for what might have been the Australia's first stamp? Supposedly, they went with the 'roo design instead of a monarch for political reasons.

I overpaid for this, but it has the best centering I've seen in a long while on this issue, and I got tired of waiting.
