Another nice map perf12. Thanks for sharing that.

The Eastern Protectorate also including the three Wahidi sultanates / sheikdoms west of Qu'aiti.

These three joined the Federation of South Arabia, so maps of the Federation and the old Eastern Aden Protectorate have different boundaries in this region (as well as Upper Yafa).

Here's a 1948 map of the Aden Protectorate boundaries:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...ice_1948.jpg

Edit: I'm sorry perf12 and everyone else. I had originally typed "Western" for "Eastern" above when describing the Wahidi sultanates.

The Wahidi sultanates were in the Eastern Protectorate.

Hi perf12,

No, there were no stamps issued by the Wahidi sultanates.

I assume both they and Mahra would have used regular Aden stamps.

Stamp Smarter actually has a pretty extensive SQL database and a start on the web front end for this kind of project. The database supports stamp issuing country 'Predecessors' and 'Successors' and the uploading of maps.

This approach (as opposed to writing a ton of simple web pages) allows the project to be added/edited by anyone using a web browser and removes the dependence upon a single person with coding knowledge to maintain the philatelic information.

Here is a simple form
http://www.stampsmarter.com/stampIs...ountry2.aspx

Here is the data 'by country'
http://www.stampsmarter.com/stampIs...History.aspx

If anyone would like to become the Admin or a contributor to this project please let me know. Maps need to be added and I can help with adding webpages that present the data in the best ways for others.

That is a very nice map but I believe it shows the sultanates within the Federation of South Arabia (although it includes Upper Yafa).

It's good to see a clear distinction being made between the Colony of Aden and the rest of the territory.

Full list of Rulers,Sheikhs and Sultans of The Aden Protectorates.
It would be interesting; if any of these local rulers printed private local stamps or cinderellas say from 1900 on?
