In 2013 vast areas of Germany were flooded along the Elbe river and its tributaries. The charity stamp has already appeared on an earlier page. These are special cancels which make the use of the stamp even more attractive.

During the catastrophic flood of 1962 in the low-lands of northwestern Germany, which cost more than 300 lives, the army was called in to help with helicopters. This was also the case during the flood of 2013. Commemorative cover and cancellations (in the background of the newer one is the Cathedral of Magdeburg). Both floods involved the Elbe river.

The Volunteer stamp on a post card of a painting showing rescuers during a flood makes a good maxi-card. Does anyone know who did the artwork?

The people of the Bahamas are used to flooding brought on by hurricanes, for example David in 1979, but I do hope they don't get more than what they are used to this season.
