Unpicked Kiloware Sources?

Thanks for the address and price info, everyone. Port Angeles is just a ferry ride away! I might take a closer look at Schulze's offerings once I plow through the kilo that is on the way. Should be here any day now...

Check out under the seller greenmouse. I just got a half pound of Asian stamps from him and they were great. I would say even better then what the photo shows. He has a lot of mixes.
The prices are in pounds Stirling, but they aren't that expensive, AND he pays the shipping, so I think it's a good deal.

No matter where you purchase used stamps, unpicked is a relative word.

You are right. Unpicked is a relative word, and dealers can be sneaky about it too.
I work for a stamp dealer. He was selling kiloware. One customer asked if he had gone though it. My dealer friend said no, he had not touched it. Which was 100% correct. I'm the one that had sorted though about 15 pounds of stamps and pulled all the light cancelled, and anything of any value and made up the bags for resale.
Mind you the price ($10.00 for 500 Canadian stamps) is still worth it, but it has been well picked over. Only thing when I go though the stamps, I always check for damaged and pull all the ones I see. In case I do miss a couple there are always at least 525 stamps in the bags, and there is NEVER more then 15 of the same stamp in any bag.
I guess that the customers were happy with them. We had a lot of repeat business over the years. Now it's too difficult to get enough to even make one bag.

My tactic for kiloware is to buy at postal and public auctions and look for a lot described as 10kgs straight from a charity. The 10kgs means to me about the last 5 to 10 yrs they have been collecting the lot. The charity means the committee has to sell by auction and not privately which could be seen as not above board. Charity committee's will sell to the bigger stamp dealers as there approved places to do business and these dealers build up unpicked mixers that spread over all the decades of Australian decimal. Their is one dealer I would recommend and a couple of public and postal auctions

I think it is a sign of the times. Kiloware in general is very expensive these days.

Many people ask me for new Canadian used commemoratives all the time and I am finding it increasingly hard to get at fair prices.

The problem with 'on-paper' mixtures is the time involved soaking etc and also the newest problems of taking chances with the SA stamps we are now finding in the mixtures up for sale today.

The best mixtures are 'off-paper' but they tend to be quite dicey pricewise too. At least the working part has been done for you with those.

Just placed an order for ~3lbs off the Jack & Jill site on the mention by WpgLwr - will post opinion after I receive the parcel and start to go through it. I think their homely and out-of-date website sold me, we'll see how their actual offerings are!

Just received my order from Jack & Jill's Kiloware last Saturday. Haven't gone through it all yet but here's review.

"2LBS of Treasure" - Basically 1/2lb of Machins and X-Mas issues from GB and then you get the pick the rest. The 1/2lb of GB is pretty boring, lots of duplication of low values and about 2/4 Machins and 1/4 X-Mas/Other at least in my case. For the rest of my 2lb I picked 1oz of Scandinavia which was reasonably nice, a handful of cat. $1+ stamps; World Mission #2 & #1 which were pretty indistinguishable from me, a pretty global lot except for Asia which was not well represented; and 1oz World Mission Off Paper which seemed to have most of the older stamps in the lot and included a bit of 19th century and some common mint stamps/

I also ordered 1oz of USA Commemoratives - All of mine were common, maybe 15-20 were not soakable -- overall what I would expect for $4.

1oz Germany Semi-Postals - Probably my favorite envelope out of the bunch. Not sure if they have any real market value but catalog value is certainly $100+ for $12 which I was very happy with. My only complaint was that there was a little too much duplication.

1oz Sweden - Mostly small self-adhesive issues from 1990-present. A few from the 60s-70s but overall nothing that interesting, mostly commons.

Here is some of the bounty from the German Semi-Postal lot which I plan on ordering again soon to fill some holes. My favorites are probably the trains, with the cars and butterflies a distant second. As a warning, and I feel like I should have known this before, but I would not soak stamps with holograms as when they curl the holograms tend to crack due to the plastic or metal being inelastic.

Reviving this topic, what would be a good source for kiloware, such as a charity?

Any one know good "unpicked kiloware" or unpicked bulk sellers in the USA?

I have a ton of Canada/ US on paper and quite a chunk of canada / US/ machins off paper as well. No clue on weight but probably 15-18,000 on paper and 2-4000 off paper. On Paper is varied with mostly mid century and alot of canadian P stamps. Probably 5kilos all together just make an offer and I'll be happy to move it all at a great deal. Must have 50 post .
