The Cape, Common or Brown Hare (Lepus capensis) is a hare native to Africa that has spread to many parts of Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Here is an image of a stamp on piece depicting a feisty-looking specimen, printed by photogravure, and issued by Ghana in 1967, Scott No. 296.

Rabbits are also popular as pets. Malaysia 2011 issued a pets series featuring the rabbit to coincide with the Lunar Year

The Amami Rabbit (Pentalagus furnessi), also known as the Ryukyu Rabbit, is a primitive dark-furred rabbit which is only found in Amami Oshima and Toku-no-Shima, two small islands in between southern Kyushu; and Okinawa in Kagoshima Prefecture (but actually closer to Okinawa) in Japan. Often called a living fossil, the Amami Rabbit is a living remnant of ancient rabbits that once lived on the Asian mainland, where they died out, remaining only on the two small islands where they survive today. Here is an image of a stamp depicting an Amami Rabbit, printed by combined engraving and photogravure, and issued by Japan on August 30, 1972, Scott No. 1172.
