I picked up another bunch of complete sets of Berlin from 1967-1971 last night...the guy who specializes in Ryukyu called me over to look at the APS circuit book...it had a Ryukyu C-1 catalog $150 for ten dollars..he said do you think the guy mispriced the stamp ? I didnt think so as the total on the top of the page matched the prices indicated under the stamps...seems there is a slight crease on the GUM on back of the stamp...he advised me to buy it stating that many of those early airmails had slight defects..we shall see !

Phil:
We had the second meeting of the year for the APS. It was a great meeting. Picked-up some used Burma & Gilbert & Ellice Islands stamps (used) for my KGVI album. We also held the first meeting of the year of the U.S. Study Group at the OPS. We discussed non-soakable U.S. stamps.
a great meeting, all in all.

Bob
The closest one is Prince William It is about an hour way . Warrenton is also an our away I did look in to that club, It is billed as a stamp and coin but when I attended there were only coin collectors present and was told that was the norm. I will have to visit the Prince William Club. I do know the club in Springfield does a well received show every year , Thans for all the info I wil let you know about the Prince William club |

Bobgggg we received a postcard yesterday...big show in Albany next Sunday..it is billed as postcard mania...but John Nunes who runs the shows will be there with his covers and Marty Kintish with his black boxes so I am sure there will be stamp dealers as well..lets see what the price of gas is by next week...if we go you are welcome to go along but we usually stay for most show which would be until 4 pm probably !! |

Quote: Just curious David was this APS meeting in Ottawa? What was the outcome on the discussion concerning non soakable stamps Dianne: This was not an APS meeting. This was a regular, weekly meeting of the OPS (Ottawa Philatelic Society). We have a study group, which I chair, that is made up with five or six members who collect United States stamps of some description. The discussion on non-soakable U.S. stamps was lead by the article in Linn's a few weeks ago. Outcome: keep all the current U.S. stamps on paper, neatly trimmed, until a solution, if any, is found. Cheers! David |
