OK my buddy had recently got a bunch of Canadian stamps and quite a few was Back of book items but I couldn't find this particular stamp in any of my references? Does any of you Canadian collectors familiar with this type of stamp? Is there a scott number for these? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for looking. -Jeff

hello ilovestamps,

For Canadian revenues, the best source of information is ESJ Van Dam. http://www.esjvandam.com/ He's not only a dealer, but the pre-eminent cataloguer of all Canadian material. Another superb source of information and knowledge-sharing is the British North America Philatelic Society's Revenues Study Group: http://bnatopics.org/hhlibrary/news...rs/n-rev.htm More recent newsletters can be had by joining the study group.

Revenues are a constant fascination for me, though I have thus far avoided jumping into the deep end with them. I'm afraid I'd never emerge!

Peter

This stamp is a Tobacco stamp. One of the catalog used for them has been written in 1976 by Lee Brandom from BNAPS but never have been updated. I know the catalog is out of print but copies can be found if you are willing to put some $$$.

Checkout Brandom #C-622 at this link for an image of your stamp, which dates back to the Series of 1924:

Your pretty safe with almost ny dated Can revenue catalog since there are not many new additions. I did notice new packs of cigarettes have a duty paid label so that may be something new.

Here is what the United States currently have on our cigarette packs. It's a tax stamp.
