Scott's Catalogue Organization Of Canada & Provinces

In an earlier poll we had a unanimous vote into organizing the Italian & German States to proceed the country in Scott's Catalogue as they currently do.

With the followup to that was should Heligoland and Lombardy & Venetia also be included with those respective state groups and again
all those whom voted agreed they should.

So now let's look at other possibilities such as Canada and it's forerunner provinces, colonies & territories.

Should Scott's Catalogue reorganized the Canadian provinces in front of Canada itself as they currently do with German States & Italian States?

Yep, it makes sense to me, but isn't it already done in the specialized catalogue, or don't they publish one anymore?

I don't believe the Scott's has a Canada Specialize Catalogue.
But what I'm refering to is their general catalogues.

I thought Scott had already grouped New Brunswick etc. under Canadian provinces in front of Canada, but obviously I am wrong?

No not Obvious! Jan-Simon. I've not seen any of the newer Scott's so it's not imposssible they have already done this.

I have checked to be sure: The 2008 Scott's I have already have Canadian provinces grouped together and put in front of Canada.

Originally they were not, but the Canadian provinces have been regrouped in front of Canada for several years (at least since 2005, my earlier catalogs are in storage; I think it happened just 1-3 years before that).

As far as I know, Scott no longer prints the Canada Specialized catalog. It was one of their first color catalogs. My oldest color Scott Canada specialized is 1982, a good 23 years before the US specialized came out in color.

Stanley Gibbons has been using this format for years... I like it.

The Specialised Catalogue for Canada is now the Unitrade Canada Specalised Catalogue. See Harry's posts earlier regarding "Looking for a Canadian Catalogue".

Say David, Does the Unitrade include precancels in the specialized version or do you have to get it in a separate catalogue.

G'Day all just thought I'd mention that the 2009 Harris catalogue has Canada first and then the provinces behind,the Unitrade also has the provinces at the back of the book,so is the Scott catalogue the only catalogue with the provinces in the front

When Scott published their Canada Specialized catalog, the provinces were after the main Canada listings, but that was quite a while back.

When Scott started moving "provinces" and "early states" listings with the country, they mostly put them before the main listing. The reason being that those stamps were (in general) issued before unified stamp issues began for that country. These original issuing entities (provinces/states) then became the equivalent of "dead countries".

When a territory or locality continues to issue stamps or issues stamps AFTER unified issues, then Scott lists them like BOB, after the main listings. These often will either have the prefix 1L, 2L..., 1N, 2N... or a completely independent numbering (no letter prefix; an example is the Grenadines issues).

That's VERY roughly the general Scott policy. But, as I have mentioned before, the one thing Scott is very consistent on is being inconsistent.
