Unpicked Kiloware Sources?

Does anyone here have any suggestions about where to look for unpicked kiloware? A quick google search doesn't turn up too much, but I did find www.sdcollectables.co.uk (and their www.ebay.com/b/260/" rel="nofollow">ebay lots) and was considering their world and Scandinavian mixes. Seems fairly pricey, especially since it is in British pounds. Also found www.kilowarestamps.com (Jack & Jill's), but seems even more expensive since you're only paying by the ounce). Anyone have experience with either of these stores or have a suggestion of a good source (for quality and/or price)?

I've seen the Jack & Jill site, and have to admit that I was interested, but it seems like too much of a hassle ("Take 1 oz of this country, and that country, etc..."), when all I really want is a pound of stamps, unpicked. Maybe the place to go is right to a charity that collects them up to start with, like Oxfam.

The only other thing that would interest me is a dealer's "housecleaning" lot, but even then, I would want some assurance I won't get a bunch of junk.

As to Jack & Jill's: Tempted and too much of a hassle? lol. You can just order their treasure lot with 6 oz of world mission #1. There, you now have two pounds of stamps with no little orders from different countries (about 1/3 GB)! Hope that helps. :)

I have no first hand experience with their offerings , but have heard only good things...

Postlynx sell on Delcampe too.
The website is nice but the items are very pricey.

I could not afford to shop there.
I just saw a few examples of grossly overpriced Test stamps.

The Kiloware looks expensive too.

Page_fault.....What kind of Kiloware are you looking for and how much do you want to spend. Specific countries? Themes?

Wherever you go, don't forget the cost of shipping. Sometimes (a lot of times?) shipping is a deal stopper for me.

I have had good luck (a year or two ago) with an ebay seller in Great Britain called weaver36.

1 kg (kilogram) of World unpicked from charity (no GB) starts at 0.99p and goes for between approximately 12 to 20 GBP or 40 CAD and if you choose airmail shipping it's another 20 GBP. (Surface/sea mail takes 9 weeks in good weather!) That is now on ebay, that is. One negative out of 900 sales is pretty good I think.

Or you can get 100 grams of separate countries.

laswabbie: Shipping for stamps is especially egregious on ebay where for some strange reason, shipping costs are at least double or triple actual costs counting materials. :p

Londonbus1: Yes, Postlynx looks to be the most expensive of the shops mentioned in this thread by a rather large margin. My collecting interests are almost certainly wider than I could conceivably afford, probably because I am interested in so many things. However, a roughly ordered list of interests is Arctic/Antarctic (animals, scenes, maps, explorers), wild animals, Scandinavia (incl Greenland, Iceland, Faroes, Aaland), maps, and music (classical composers, instruments, scores). Mostly newer stamps (very roughly 1970+, depends on the countries and stamps). If you think you have some material I'd be interested in, let me know.

Puzzler: Looks to be a more reasonable going price (1kg mixes), especially if the mixes are of good quality.

cgrotha: Sounds familiar... an ad in Linn's?

Well, I went ahead and bought some stamps off of www.sdcollectables.co.uk . A half kilo each of Scandinavian commem/large and New Zealand mission. All of the NZ and many of the Scandinavian stamps in these mixes were collected in the UK, so I'm hoping for some good stamps. I'm not TOO worried...

The person who answered my barrage of questions did so satisfactorily and nicely. Shipping is expensive from the UK, but the seller takes the stamps used back in trade at a good rate, so if I reorder, the effective shipping cost won't be so bad next time (especially if I'm patient and ship by surface).

When I receive the mixes and start going through them, I'll post some stats/pictures so you can all see if the mixes 'make the grade'. I still have some stamps from my last purchases to process first, though...

I recently received kiloware price lists from B. Schulze Stamps. They probably picked up my name from Linn's or APS. I remember their Black Cat ads from the 1960's, but not the prices they quote, today! Have seen their ads in Linn's, but if you're not a subscriber and would like a price list, the address is B. Didn't Schultze also have a Victoria, BC address? Does he still?

I'm sure he ran both sides of the border like Bileski did. Bileski was headquartered in Winnipeg, but also had a Pembina, ND address, which was a mailbox, and he would have mail from it collected and sent up to him (or he would pick it up himself) in order to be able to use the cheaper USPS rates on his American mailings.

Yes he did have a Victoria, BC address as you show. I did order from him, once, and believe the mix was mailed from across the border in the U.S.

Port Angeles? Heck, he's right around the corner from me. :-)
