This is a common misbelief.
We have been without our 1c and 2c coins for years now and it works quite well. Prices per item will remain unchanged. Only the end total gets rounded. If a basket of goodies has a total ending 1,2,6 or 7 cents it is rounded down, if it ends in 3,4,8 or 9 then it is rounded up. You can't be charged more than 2c extra. Sometimes you will be charged 2c less. It's really not a big deal.

I certainly wouldn't sell them for less than face value, if you give them away for less than that, you may as well use them for postage.
