Hi,

I looking for stamp albums. I remember that when I was a child I had a blue and gold Scott Stamp album, 3-ringed binder. My mother did too, but my grand mother had a 3 volume set. For the life of me I can't remember if it was a Scott product or not.

The 3 volume set was big, black and red with gold borders in the title of the book and the volume break. Does anyone know what my grandmother's set could have been? Was there albums put out by Harris? That's something I remember, but I'm not sure if that was the album or it was from many of the other supplies that she used.

Hi Donna, welcome!

The Blue and Gold album was probably a Harris Statesman similar to the below borrowed pic from ebay:

I had a couple of these years ago.

The other ones you describe I am not sure but could very well be Harris too. International albums maybe? They had a couple larger sets of albums I remember but didn't have them. Perhaps look through ebay searching for 'albums'.

I think there is at least one thread / topic on here that talks about older albums and that Harris went out of business or got bought out. Can't remember exactly.

Doug

Wow Puzzler, I remember years ago I drooled to upgrade my traveler album to that one! I could never afford it despite shoveling the neighbors driveways in the wintertime...

Looks like there are still new ones on ebay too! Lovely size, not too big, not too small. I had to wait a while to upgrade to that but loved it when I finally got it.

OMG, Puzzler. That was the one that I had. The memories that it brought back

philb, now Minkus sounds familiar. That could have been it. I don't think that I will be able to afford them, but The Harris Statesman I am going to check out on ebay.

Bee See, I wasn't really expecting anyone to remember any of those albums. I had thought that they would have out of print due to a company merger or something.

Thanks everyone!

I always thought the most handsome was the Harris "Citation" binder. I actually have a number of unused binders for the Standard and Citation but the plastic covering due to the poor quality plasticizer used has caused them to become sticky to the touch. Should have sold them off long ago.

Nice link, NotRare! I see my first two stamp albums, the Explorer (paperback) and the Traveler are still selling under those names. The covers have changed a bit. I wish I still had my old ones...

Philby, I would just want the albums for nostalgia purposes. I had the Explorer in the late 60's and the Traveler a few years later.

I remember I could rarely get the stamps whose picture was shown, and was mostly filling in the blank spaces. It would be kind of neat to get the old Explorer paperback album and fill up all the picture spaces only...

BeeSee.......

I grew up with Harris products too.......filled and sold several Statesman albums and I've been considering getting another but I don't really want a "new" one.......most of what's been issued worldwide since about 1965 I don't care for.
