send them to me. I just pulled out my daughters old kids microscope kit... apparently it goes from 300 to 15000 magnification.
I put a stamp on a slide, turn on the light, and could see the individual threads in quite large detail.. very cool.

Harry, you might not really want to send them to me, but this gives me a shot at telling everyone of my new toy.

The Silk Fibers are quite visible with the Naked Eye or a Magnifying Glass. I'll post a comparison Pic later Tonight or Tomorrow for you. Depending on what is going on when I get home after work.

Check this site out. They have some examples of silk paper. They even have arrows pointing to where the silk fibers are so that you can see what they look like.

Good idea Daryl I'll fire up the Digi Blue and have a look, also thanks Eric and eopie for the link,I have seen this before but couldn't make out what the arrows were pointing at until I looked again and this time I magnified the reverse of the silk to see the black threads so now I know what to look for,now I can sort out the c's from the d's thanks again

Fibers should be Blue or Red, Not Black. The Blue does look like black sometimes.

There may be only one or several. They were broadcast by hand over the paper before it was dried.

I've also learned from this site eopie and still learning,
Interesting Eric the blue did look black it might have been a color variation with the screen definition though I will see the color of the threads under the microscope tomorrow.
thanks again mate

This was harder than I thought and I haven't even started on the main collection only the duplicates, using the microscope I started to look at each individual revenue the one's with full gum I have no chance to see the paper, then there were stains that looked like silk threads also patters of the stamp canceller clearer from the reverse that was distracting and one with a pattern that looks like a playing card on the reverse, good grief in the end I gave it away and went to bed muttering to myself .
Well It's morning now and time to have another crack at it,did take some photo's of a few reverses will post them latter.

I have both computers going now one on this site and the other uploading to photobucket
this photo is of a maybe a stain

These two are of gum and the trouble to see the paper

then I was finally able to see the paper

this was the first distraction

then more with stains and gum

then this another distraction

then finally this

well there you have it and I'm still not sure if the last one is silk .

F.Y.I. And I'm sure I'll catch a lot of SH..T for this one! It is VERY common practice to remove the gum from the 1st Issue and the 1st Issue RB's. As you see it is quite nasty! This is Due to It's being put on by hand. I have done this myself when I have a suspect "Silk" but can not see clearly through the Gum.
**Disclaimer** It is NOT my recommendation to do this!
