About Me

I am 82 yrs old, happily married, a second grade teacher in my previous life. I like to look at and read about stamps. I have several commercial stamp collections that I inherited from a friend, but I prefer mint plate blocks and stamps that I receive on letters. I receive the dues envelopes from an organization that I belong to and so I have been able to get nice stamps from those envelopes. I have three problems currently concerning my stamps. When our things were in storage a few years back about 27 mint sheets from the late seventies and early eighties glued themselves to the glassine pages of my mint storage books. I do not know what I should do. Any ideas? Another problem is my perforation guide. It does not have quarters or three quarters, does anyone have a suggestion about a guide that really works well?. One more thing, in years past the stamps came off easily from envelopes with just a little soak. Now of course they do not Lately I have just been cutting out the corner of the envelopes and leaving a little paper around the edges. What do others do? I clearly need help now that I have some time to work with my stamps. I use the EzStamp v8.0 to keep track of my stamps and although I used to put stamps in albums, I keep them in glassine envelopes in boxes that are made for stamp collections. I started collecting stamps when I was about 9 years old. I would carefully cut off the perforations, I thought they were untidy looking. Clearly I had no guidance early on. Oh, I have bought the yearly commemorative books from the US Postal service since 1971. They were really only folders at first. I would buy two of them so I would have one for each of our sons but they got pretty expensive so in 1991 I started just buying one. Just as well since neither of our sons is interested and so far none of the grandchildren are either. Oh well, I still like stamps and I will continue spending their inheritance on them. There you have a thumbnail sketch of me. Can anyone help me with my problems?
