Same here. I sell extras etc on eBay. Trying (unsuccessfully) not to dip into family funds for my hobby. Since I collect pre 1940 WW, I buy a lot of lots and collections, and then sell the excess on eBay. Fees are ridiculous those. Any better ideas of where to sell? Mainly beginner oriented stuff.

Wow that is amazing Horamkhet!

Thanks for sharing! That is very special!

My wife is a book collector as well and is strong in Celtic areas ~ though nothing like your collection. There is always something new to acquire as archaeological expertise & discoveries increase, generating new theories & throwing light on old ones. It is a fascinating area of interest. The internet helps her with heaps of free info to learn more about her areas of interest. It is so nice when she finds something new and gets excited and shares. KGV

"Selling is working for us as it is but if anybody uses this info please tell me you are from SCF. John."

Just curious, what percent of your lots sell?

I really don't think apologies or explanations are needed. There are two sides to our hobby: the sellers as well as the buyers.

eBay and the other sites would be a great deal healTheir if more of the sellers there joined in some of the stamp forums, to ask the questions they should have asked and acquire the knowledge they should have acquired, before listing their items for sale.

I really hope I have not broken any SCF rule.
A member must have 50 posts before you can approach that member about selling stamps to them is worrying me.I will see if I can dance around it.

Hi!joe1225us
When we were selling 30 to 50 lots a week we were selling about 50% of them.
Now we are listing 200 lots a week we sell about 35% of lots but there are a lot more expensive lots on offer now and I see that more lots will not sell because of this.

Thanks for your question. KGV

Speaking for myself, I think general discussions about buying and selling are fine -- no rule infraction in that.

Contrast that with someone who joins SCF, then writes a lengthy first post promoting his auction site, shipping policies, links to his website, etc.

John I've tried the advanced search for "kg5 collector" and it says seller id not found. Am I missing something here?

I'd sure like to have a look at some of your lots.

Bill

The pressure of trying to put this selling thing together had got me.I can see this now. I am so glad I posted this issue. I am very surprised that so many people have shared so many kind words. It has helped me to get back on an even keel again and I am sitting here with a big smile on my face and feeling very relieved about a lot of things. Thanks KGV.

Quote:
kg5 collector is our user name.

This is kind of correct. It is readable when spelled that way but it is not the way to type it when searching on eBay for that seller name.

kg5collector is the way to spell it on eBay.

Link to his My World page (click link on left side to go to Items For Sale):
http://myworld.ebay.com/kg5collector

To find him on Australia eBay, his home , you just put '.au' after the .com, before the '/' .

No harm in advertising amongst friends once in a while.

John, now you are just broadening your knowledge of stamping, seeing everything from all sides now, as the song goes. It is all good because you are good. Doug

Maybe my user name is registered in Australia. Our .com store name is eyes4stamps. Their is also a business name as well that might be our user name on the .com store.

It is a great place to look at some beautiful stamps and we are very proud of what we have been able to do. It would be nice to show off our store and what we have done. .com user name is maybe Australian K.G.V. Used Stamps.

I am a bit lost with this stuff as the wife knows all this info and she is at another performance with our youngest. Hope I have been helpful. Any comments would be gratefully received. KGV

KGV, I've just checked out your store and even though I do not
collect Australia you certainly have some nice stuff.
Also it's all very nicely laid out.

I wish you and your family much success in all your sales.

I'm sure the Christmas season will boost your sales tremendously.

Thanks litho!
It is nice to get some feed back. Selling on eBay is strange, silent way of meeting people. I will get use to it sooner or later.

No worries John.

To give people a link to your sales you can either click on your eBay user name kg5collector, and that takes you to your My World page (I know, I know, confusing to me also). Then, you get a link with some tracking numbers after it like:

http://myworld.ebay.com/kg5collector/
Oops, that one didn't have any. Sometimes there are numbers after. I erase them until I get to the '/' character but you can leave them. All those are is telling eBay how you arrived there, which page you were on when you clicked your user name. Details, details.

When you click on eyes4stamps, your eBay store name, you get:
http://stores.ebay.com/eyes4stamps

Notice all the links here in Stamp Community default to .com, where you can still see everything, unless you marked an item to ship only to Australia or something.

For searchers, John mostly always uses the country name 'Australia' in his listing titles, a lot of the time 'KGV' or 'kgv' and a lot of 'decimal' references if you just want to type some words in and look for him. And use the year, that helps.

If you know the year you almost have it made in the shade.

Type 'australia decimal 2002' and you get 3 listings, all of them are John's (who is KGV_Collector here and kg5collectr there, by the way).
