The title shares my username, football philately. I wanted to know if anyone here shares my passion for collecting football or soccer stamps. I have a large collection of soccer stamps from all around the world. Here are a few of my favorites. The very famous 1000th goal pele stamp commemorating his 1000th goal November 1969. The first postage stamp ever to feature football, 1925 Hungary. This stamp was issued by Austria in March 2008. This stamp is made with the same plastic polyurethane was used to manufacture the official football of the UEFA.

Welcome FootballPhilately I don't collect soccer/footie stamps as a rule but I do have this fun set fro Kampuchea sent to me by Rod, a fellow board member I'm sure you'll meet in due time. Soccer is growing fast here in Canada. I played as a kid (as most of us did) but was never a huge fan. This past year I worked art directing a national soccer magazine, and really loved it. Just in time to enjoy the World Woman's Cup, despite Canada's dismal showing. Unfortunately the gig didn't last, but have a new found love for the sport. Enjoy your stay, I'm sure you'll enjoy this as much as the game. |

Thanks a lot Jamesw! I just joined SCF a few hours ago and I am loving it! So much stamp entertainment everywhere I turn, its like sensory overload. I didn't even get a chance to introduce myself in the new members section. Is it too late? |

I love soccer (but American football, to boot, for sure!!) along with most sports (was once a sportswriter) and I have a collection of sports covers - but sooooo many to save it was too overwhelming. But I may go back to it after seeing this thread. I'm getting a real kick out of it. |

There are some nice stamps in there. That Hungarian is great! Brits of '66, too. ... And are those Chelsea stamps actually stamps? (They sure appear to be - does GB do a soccer stamp or set every year?) |
