Seeing as it is almost Thanksgiving, I wonder if there have been many stamps with turkeys on them! I know that some states have turkey hunting stamps...
Thanksgiving has been and gone, but then we operate on a different calendar here north of the border. Seems the folks on that little island off Florida like turkey too.
Hehehe Being the collector of fine material, that I am, I have the perforated and imperf souvenir sheet of Sharjah of Meleagris gallopavo, mine show a very becoming snood.
The Wisconsin Federation of Stamp Clubs has a PowerPoint on its website that is all about the 1956 wild turkey stamp. The stamp was issued in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
The slide show has some beautiful hand painted/hand drawn covers.
