This is a current Australian International 'peel and stick stamp'. Now I wouldn't normally grace my collection with these 'stickers', but as you can see, they can be very useful. |

Well I have to admit you Aussies have a lot more Koala stamps than we have of our icon, the beaver. Which is too bad because without the beaver (pelts--->hats)Canada would perhaps have not been developed as it was or maybe even exist as a separate entity. Anyway thanks for the great scans, I enjoy seeing them. |

Australia issued a series of revenue stamps (1988 to 1997) featuring the Koala. One miniature sheet was issued each year. These were approved and sold at face value by the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service, which changed its name in 1993 to the Australian Nature Conservation Agency. Money from sales went to Australian Government consolidated revenue. |

Phascolarctos Cinerus Phasco = Pouch or bag We build nests for local fellows Phascogales (no relation) We feel sorry for them.. As with a number of dasyurid species, the males live for only one year, dying after a period of frenzied mating. Closest relative to the Koala, is the Wombat. |

Quote: Travelling Koala...in Liberia You often see people referring to the Koala as a bear, but this stamp is a real blooper. Great posts Rod. |
