How long has there been a rule about thread titles having to be 20 characters long. I got dinged on this today and when I went back to correct, everything I'd typed in my post had been deleted! Seems sort of draconian.

Not complaining so much about the rule, just the fact that this board deleted an entire post I'd spent a lot of time working on. Can this be changed to preserve what contributors type while correcting the title?

It was tested thoroughly on all browsers before deploying. The back button and link to go back always preserved the post.

I was done because I got tired of "Help" for a title. Titles need to be descriptive.

Since implementing this the quality of titles has gone up dramatically.

I will see about implementing a counter next to the box.

That was a great idea Bobby. Thanks for what you do.

I also like the idea of more descriptive titles, as there were too many with too vague questions. Good job, and adding a counter would be a great idea.

Like I said, not complaining so much about the rule itself but what happened in my case. I clicked on the 'go back and fix this' link and the comments had been tossed along with the title. May be some glitch, anyway thought the mods should be aware of a possible issue. I worked ten minutes on that post. Not happy...

I do apologize for that. Over the next few days I'll work on some warning text and a counter..
