I just saw an item on ebay -- this statement explains shipping for the item:

Quote:
We send items within 2 bussiness days. Normal shipping time: 20 days. If the package delays more than 20 days, it is for your local post problems.

I'm not sure what the last part means, but it was enough to discourage a bid from me

What was it Kirk? I want to look at it now.

They are probably meaning that (English being their second language I am guessing) if the package of stamps takes longer than 20 days to arrive at the customers address then it is not their fault, they have put the package in the post within 2 days, anything after that is your ow postal service's problem. So there.

In a nice way of course.

I agree with Puzzler. They ship within 2 days and say it should normally arrive within 20 days, depending on the mails. It's kind of like reading law... only in reverse!

I'm not sure how to post a link to an ebay auction number -- it was a set of British Antarctic Territory stamps and the ebay id number is 110587789410

KirkS

P.S. I also assumed English was a second language for the seller and I meant nothing derogatory; it just struck me as funny.

I know you didn't Kirk. I think my added so there at the end changed the tone of the original message.

And pass it on through 20 people and either South America will be sinking along with Antarctica or Argentina will be having a major diplomatic dispute with every other country in this hemisphere. So there.
Link to ebay item:
http://cgi.ebay.com/BR-ANTARCTIC-TE...em19bf8bc062
You just click and select the URL (high-lighted), copy, go to SCF where you are typing away and click in window and Paste and then select link there and choose Size 1 if you want to make it smaller like I do. That is just me.

Nice stamps, ships and planes and explorers.
Seller is in Argentina so language would be Portuguese or Spanish which I am not fluent in. They keep the talking to a minimum though, in English, a nice presentation. The only complicated thing I don't like (but 43,000 others did) is the choosing of the way to pay.

I have seen lots of different translations from French, Spanish, Italian, etc etc on Delcampe and ebay too, and mostly everyone means well and just wants to do business. If they rely on Google translation like I do then whatever they are translating will usually sound funny to an original speaker of that language.

I thought I would be smart one day a while ago and tried Google translating English to French so I could perhaps draw more attention to some stamps I was selling. A French Canadian lady bought them and did not speak English so I used Google again and explained I was using Google also.

She thought the translation was funny. Partly because the translator could not get my nuance and meaning across and partly because it was translating to France French and not French Canadian French. But I'd rather be a bit funny that come across saying something I did not mean at all.

Which I was afraid of, after that transaction, so I just do English now. God help us all.

I think the send payment to Miami is OK and nothing to be worried about.

I think it has to do with the fee for changing currencies that PayPal or VISA charges (2.5% at least) and perhaps having money in an account away from the Argentinian authorities, nice as they of course are.

I am not sure banking or monies are as safe in some countries as in western industrialized countries. Lots of different rules and regulations too probably.

I am bilingual. It is just that no one knows what it is the other language I speak at times! They are still studying me.

You don't really need all that gobbley gook in the code to post an ebay link.

All you need is http://cgi.ebay.com/ plus the item number.

for exanple:

http://cgi.ebay.com/380275523314

That will get you to a cool Victoria stamp. I did not want to give the other wacky seller a link

Then the forum daddy can easily add his ebay Partner stuff and if someone clicks and bids and buys, SCF gets a commission.

Both ways add the Stamp Community info onto the link when you click or copy it. I did not realize that you could do that Bee See. Thank you. I thought just copying was the easy way.
