Here's the title page from a late 19th century WW Album that I have:

Unfortunately, it's in poor condition and someone stripped the stamps out of it years ago and cut out pages, especially the U.S. section. Most of the rest of the countries are relatively in-tact, so I keep it as it is very interesting to read the country descriptions then versus now.

It's 1896, so the title page for the U.S. reads: 44 States, 5 Territories and 1 Federal District. President: Grover Cleveland.

There are also color maps of the world and, of course, Scott advertising for everything from albums to perf gauges to stamps on approval. (ex.: 40 U.S. Adhesives and Envelopes from 1851 to 1893, Price 50 cents, post free. -- I'd guess we'd all like to have that packet for the price today!)

Wow, very interesting wt1. It makes us travel in time. Would like to see the color maps inside. I didn't know Scott is so old. Daniel

timbres667: It would be too time and space intensive to scan them all, but here is the North and Central America Map from that 1896 Scott Album:

Thanks for showing this map. I can see that Toronto is not on it. In 1896 Montreal was the largest city in Canada.

I know what you mean. Even for U.S. it has limited info. They didn't list Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, Philadelphia, PA or for that matter not even one city in Florida.

Because they don't have a hockey team.

The central america region is way off when it comes to Panama. Of course this map predates an independent country of Panama (that didn't happen until late 1903).
