Over the past week or so there have been several members who have put in links to be able to view their collection (or big chunks of their collection, anyway). This could be really interesting and worth revisiting - but it's often hard to remember in which forum the link was posted. And of course it would take up too much space for the collections to be actually on the SCF site.
So my suggestion is that there is a new high level forum called "Members' collections" where members could put in details of their collections with links to view these.
Of course there may be somewhere on the forum at the moment that does this, but I haven't found it yet!

Can anyone recommend a free site where you can create an account and upload your collection? |

EDIT, OPPS I read too fast, I thought we were just adding them to this thread. I like this idea too now that I actually read your full message. I'll go first, this is not my primary collection but the white ace albums I got from my grandfather I'll be remounting sometime in the future because unfortunately he didn't know about the reactive properties of tape even thought he used great skill and tiny pieces. http://www.cfistore.com/StampcomUS.htmlI dont think I'll ever get to the point I can publish my Scotts Internationals VOL 1-9... |

Great collection, Edwin - that was just what I hoped we could do.
But what will be needed I think will be for someone to put a new forum in the general philatelic forum, called "Members' collections" - then further subdivided (I think) into "Country collections" and "Topical collections", and then each member's collection would be in a forum inside the relevant area.
This would mean that people could put comments in the forum for each collection, while members could update their online collection pics whenever they wanted.
As I am still very much a new boy here (not 2 weeks yet), I don't feel up to sorting this out myself - any volunteers out there?
The collection that gave me the idea was sellospain's - see the general forum.

I have cleaned up this topic to remove the blatant self promotion by a new member that didn't bother to read the rules at all that he agreed to when he registered. The rules are for everyone and not negotiable nor open for debate here.I will think about this request this week. It's more work than you think because sites will have to be approved and the forum code updated to reflect he permissions. Links to ImageShack galleries would not be allowed if this is done. They show nasty ads sometimes. |

Dear ADMIN:
Very sorry some of that was my fault I didn't look at the total posts of the new user, I was tired and just not thinking.

I apologize for the "blatant self promotion", and for breaking the rules. I stumbled upon your web forum and saw people talking about sharing their collections on the web. I actually thought that sharing a link to mine would give others some ideas of what they might like for their own online albums.
I am not selling anything, or hoping to drive attention to me. Unfortunately, Admin thought I was. He owns this forum, and has the right to remove any posts he wishes. But insulting me and suggesting that I was "blatantly self-promoting" was uncalled for.
I will respectfully back out of this forum and participate no more. Thank you to those who posted positive comments.

really?
Come to think of it, where was the self promotion? because he writes websites? He wasn't asking for business. he was showing a website that he wrote.. and I as a web developer was interested in how he wrote it... what was wrong with that?
If I write a website and show a link to my stamp collection, will that link be removed also? |
