I just sneaked onto my daughter's computer to tell a story with a happy ending.
I will be back when the stamp table is up and running again on saturday [I hope]
When I was in London for the Festival of Stamps in May I was lucky enough to have seen the GB One Pound UPU reproduction being printed on an old Intaglio Press, by Enschede of Haarlem. This was a practice run for the demonstration being held at the Guildhall Art gallery for the exhibition- KGV Empire Mails.
It was fascinating and I even got the chance to hold a freshly printed copy to have a closer look. But that was as far as it went. All demonstration copies were returned to the BPMA [the Organizers].
Nothing more was heard although a little bird did tell me that friends of the Organization would be offered these at a later date.
Until last Thursday [9th].
It was announced on BPMA website that on Monday 13th at 9am, 50 copies would be offered to the public, 1 per person. the announcement was a bit contradictory in that it said it could be pre-ordered by email while in the same paragraph stating that orders would only be accepted from 9am Monday !
weird.
So I emailed them and told them I was interested in buying a copy but was a bit confused by the website announcement and I told them why. It was immediately changed to say that ONLY phone orders would be accepted from 9am.
As I did not want to spend hours in a phone queue [nor could I], I gave up on the chance of owning the Ultimate Festival of Stamps souvenir to go with my already very packed albums on the topic/subject.
Yes, I was disappointed.
However, on Tuesday afternoon I managed to get to a computer to check emails and have a good read of the forum messages [great stuff-thanks]. There was an email from the BPMA asking me if I was still interested in a copy of the Reproduction and if I was could I send credit card details.

I was in double shock.
How did they accept an email request while stating only orders by phone ?
Maybe it was a thank you for putting their announcement in order ?? Nah !
Anyway, the email also told me to reply as soon as possible. I was late due to having no computer and as I replied to them I was certain it would be too late

That was tuesday. Until 30 minutes ago, I heard nothing and was resigned to being left out. Just bad luck I thought.
But then I borrowed my girls computer just to check and have another read here.......and there it was.
"Your order has been accepted and will mailed out next Monday"

I wanted to jump up and down and scream a little but the wife is sleeping....so I told you lot instead.
I know it's more drivvle from me about that London 2010, Festival of Stamps [groan, yawn I can hear you] but then it is the
ULTIMATE SOUVENIR !The most expensive and beautiful KGV Cinderella I am ever likely to own.

Londonbus1....See you soon.
