Received in the mail after Christmas:
My little envelope back from Christmas Island, NS in a nice bag.
(My thanks and appreciation go out to the wonderful workers at the Christmas Island, Nova Scotia post office!

)
Probably used to protect the cover and cancels. I did not ask for this service. Perhaps they do this for everyone? Not sure. They did know I was a stamp collector so maybe that was why.

The bag used was an actual and real (collectible item)
Canada Post Apologies Damaged bag. This is used when your mail gets chewed by the neighbour's dog or fish or big wild cat, run over by a wild band of forklift operators out on the town, mangled by am unfortunate car accident initiated by folks on their way to work in the morning before they have had their regular coffee with caffeine, leapt upon and bitten and scaled, and re-scaled (!) by a vicious lake trout waiting in ambush, or possibly (a rare occurrence mind you) ripped and torn by the darn foreign sorting machines in the postal sortation plant.

Oh yes, the actual envelope with Red and Green Christmas Wreath Cancels:

Close up of stamps and cancels (Ornaments and Ribbons and Holly and Candy-canes and Bow!)

December 24 cancel, now that's as close to having Santa cancel your mail as you are going to get. Is that magic or what?
