Suggestion: collect US precancels - you can assemble a collection of literally a million different without spending more than 25 cents each.

I'll go with conspiracy theory -- The rich are buying up all the good stamps, the dollar will plummet gold will bottom out and the new international monetary system will be stamps. Rockafellas, Gates and even Oprah are secretly buying up and hoarding.
Damn that Jesse Venture show making me all paranoid---lol

Chasa I get huge envelopes of precancels from people..its a lot of work for me to select out the little known towns...what can I do with the Boston, Chicago and New York N.Y. ? I was in an antique shop Sunday and there was an elephant made of stamps for an absurd price...someone had pasted a bunch of stamps on thin cardboard and cut out the figure of an elephant !!

I'm not to frustrated about the fact there is some expensive stamps I cannot afford to buy. Two of my collections, Poland and Europa, have stamps in price range I can afford. So I can aim for complete collection.

There a few things I learned about collecting. Most of them I learned from older... I mean experienced collectors. But one of the most important ones

Don't see it as a competition, there is always someone out there who has more than you
