Got a bank check for you stamperdude (no touching ) from Watertown, NY. I am sure if you collect these, it's nothing earth shattering, but it is the only bank check I have so I like it. Clean 20 Dec 1873 strike. Too bad there is a small tear in the check right after the word Frank.

Why would a check have a stamp on it?

Paying some revenue tax, like land, they have taxes on a lot of different items over the years. Tough to tell sometimes.

Very nice! I just picked up 2 checks on Revenue imprinted paper last week. When I get time I'll scan them to show off.

That "small tear" is history on its usage,
it was impaled on an office spike, quite common.

As soon as you say that it becomes quite obvious. Where were you 10 years ago when I was fussing over it? (Thank you again for bringing reality back to my collection!)

Anyone find it odd that the check is made out to just "Frank" who is obviously the signer of the check?

Er, "open to offers", so what are they worth to you? There's no market for them here in Oz, so I'd be happy to send them home to someone who wants them. Email me what you think is a fair deal :)
