Glad to have ya here! It's nice that you and Walter are starting collecting together. I wish I could get my hubby interested in the stamps--he is interested in the coins, so I guess one out of two isn't so bad!

Welcome to the forum Laurita, As a newbee myself I can tell you that you will find this a most welcoming site and one that's filled with information.

With me being so new to this hobby, I want to know where would be the best place to start? Cim told me that with my interests I would be called a topical collector. I would like to collect flowers, birds, wildlife, ANYTHING coffee, (if there is anything like that) special occassion, CHRISTMAS, SNOWMEN. I have an obsession with Christmas & snowmen. Thank you all for being so kind. I look forward to getting to know you all better in the months to come.

The topics you've mentioned are quite popular with a lot of collectors. You will find a great many items that fit those categories. Really, a lot of material, mostly nice items that are not very expensive.

And, just to give you something to look forward to.......I put something in this mornings mail for you.

Hello Laurita! Since it looks like you're destined to be a "topical" collector I have something to send you. If you'll get your ten posts, or have a friend send me your address, I'll send you a couple copies of Topical Times, the journal of the American Topical Association. They make for great reading and may give you some ideas on how to start and where to go with your collection.
