My Tuvalu cover was mounted in about 1984, so I have been using those corners for over 15 years and they are still perfectly fine. I will check the brand when I get home.

Quote:
The Princely State of Dungarpur
1197-1949
Northwest Indian Subcontinent - Currently a district in the State of Rajasthan.

Now if you mean getting a cover, well, that will be a challenge.

Is it that they are expensive because there is not much philatelic material out there yet, or because it is indeed rare?

Smauggie, most (numerically) of the Indian States will be difficult to downright impossible on cover. Dungarpur is a shining example: the stamps are very uncommon at best, and covers are even harder.

However, if you'll accept postal stationery cards and covers, I have some spares of the very easy States you could have for free. Just email me.

OK, as promised, here are 3 scans of various albums I have created (and use).
# 1 this is the 6 x 9 pages I use for my postal stationery collection:

#2. This is a full 8 1/2 x 11 page from my 1946 issue collection:

#3. This is a full 8 1/2 x 11 page from my RPO (Railroad Post Office - Southern PaAcific) collection:

The first small page is the simple, put the card/envelope in the page, gravity holds it, and it can be removed to see the back if needed. The 2nd page has the stamps mounted with hinges. The 3rd page all the items are held with photo corners.

I have other pages done for other collections.

I hope this helps.
Bob

I really like the cover from Odessa. It can't be a common cover and may indeed by very rare. The handwriting is fascinating.

I fell in love with that cover from Odessa the moment I laid eyes on it. I think I got it in a W/W cover lot in an auction.

Now, fast forward 60 years . . .

A few of the Indian States that are going to prove a bit tricky to acquire:

Alwar State, also from the former Rajputana, now Rajasthan:

(Uncommon to find the 1877 and 1899 issues used together on cover)

Bundi State, also in Rajputana

A pair of the 'Sacred Cows' ¼ Annas

Jhalawar, also in Rajputana:

and my one and only cover from the dreaded Dungarpur

I know the stamp's damaged, but you can't have everything
