Newbie From NZ

Kia Ora (Hello) I'm Joey from down-under in New Zealand. I am a novice stamp collector and also a novice when it comes to computers. I get by on a wing & a prayer. I haven't decided what type of stamps to collect yet but I am slowly sorting thru stamps that I have. Cheers.

Enjoy the search for the right topic and the right computer setup/technique. I find they work together -- making the sum greater than the parts.
I've been trying to figure out what to collect for over 50 years, and still don't know!

Dave N,Thanks for your reply. I don't collect any particular stamp/country at the moment. I have a lot of kiloware that I have brought over the years but never done anything with until now. I am slowly sorting thru it and putting aside stamps that interest me.
western1688,NZ is a beautiful place. Wellington just now,had a 4.2 earthquake. Hopefully you will get back to visit one day. I thought of starting a NZ forum for members to learn/ask questions about NZ.Good idea?
Butterfly,Its hard for a novice to decide what to collect. Butterflies & insects would be a great place to start. You must have a great collection after 50 years.

Hi Huckles888,Thanks for your welcome. I always wanted to cross the ditch,but I can't swim,so I have to stay on this side. I have just posted 4 photos of the All Blacks/world Cup stamps on - show us your sports stamps. We were very lucky to win it.

Kia Ora Jeff,Thanks for dropping by. When someone visits me,I try to return the visit - I had a quick look at your profile. You must of seen a lot of changes over your many years of collecting. We had an young USA teenager stayed with us for about 2 weeks who is traveling NZ.He is from Minneapolis,MH. He went north of Auckland and in fact is stopping off again tomorrow for a night before he heads further south. Him & a German teenager he met in the city when he arrived in NZ,are traveling together. Two unlikely travel companions who got on like a house on fire.

Hi Dianne,Thanks for your welcome and for dropping by. We also had a Canadian visitor who came to collect his car. He's into bugs & golf. He's travelled a bit,so I must ask him if he collects stamps when he comes back to our place in mid-January. I'll have to get him to write down the name of the Canadian town he lives in. The way he says it sounds like to me begins Sach....! I could never say it. It was a very kind gesture of yours to give away your stamp collection to a boy who was ill,when you were younger. On the forums,I saw a lady who had been ill and lost a lot of her stamps in a flood so I offered to send her some NZ stamps for free to help her get started again. I wished her all the best and hoped she was feeling better. The same thing you would do if it was a family member which of course what SCF is. One big happy family. Cheers

Sorry Dianne,I have a lot of fun sorting thru that stuff. What to keep,what to sell,what to give away. The only problem been,I keep buying more stuff.

Joeytoat, my wife was ALMOST one of your countryman..after a long while she got a visa to the U.S. (she was from Holland) so long story short..she was here two years and went home to visit..her Mom said why don't you come home and get a good job...her brother who was an engineer on a Dutch ship was angry because he had her all fixed up with a family in New Zealand ...but she owed money to her landlady and her boss for the trip(those were the good old days) so she felt she had to come back..plus she said she liked it here..that was before I stumbled on the scene !!

Welcome Joey. An interesting phase of collecting, the "I have stamps, but need to decide which areas to collect" phase. Lots of possibilities. Enjoy whatever path you choose.
