This is what I'm referring to. Moderators if there is a better place to put this please feel free to do so. I apologize for being so vague on my original posting. Banknotes both large and small (without the triangles) Bureau issued "Banknotes" (Banknotes with the little triangle thingies in corners) EDIT: Topic Title

I think you are talking about the small banknotes, Scott 219-229. I think I can supply you with a complete set packaged in a 1998 Scott U.S. Specialized catalogue. What are your actual needs? |

Maybe the others are a little confused -- as am I. Threads here usually come in two basic forms 1. Member asks a question, and we all try to answer 2. Member posts a scan of interest, and we all ooh and aah You've done neither I assume you don't want to buy banknotes (since you're in the Discussion Forum). Do you want to see scans of banknotes? Do you need catalog numbers/values for your banknotes? I find all the banknotes a little confusing: large, small, etc. Do you need help or clarification? As a percentage, there are very few "unanswered" posts on SCF, so if you can give us a better subject line and/or a few sentences in your original post, you'll get a much better reply rate. KirkS |

I apologize very much. I had a VERY terrible day so I scanned what I have in the original post (above) and the missing ones, obvioulsly, is what I need. I am willing to both trade and/or buy. So if thhis thread needs moved then by all means do so. Maybe I can myself? |

I re posted the updated top post in the wanted to buy section but can't seem to find the little trashcan icon to delete this thread. I feel really stupid right now and I'm very sorry. Your Friend (I hope) -Jeff |

Quote: can't seem to find the little trashcan icon to delete this thread Jeff, the delete option is only available to you as long as no one has responded to your post. We're all entitled to a bad day every so often and if you have to feel stupid, what better place to do so than among friends and family. Steve |

Hey Jeff: I just re-read this entire thread and I want to apologize -- I didn't mean to come across as the "Sentence Police" I was trying to be helpful/constructive, but I don't think it came across that way. I think the bottom line on the whole issue is that you were thinking "Want to Buy" and I was thinking discussion? Either way, it's not a big deal. And back to the real issue of the post... I've been trying for a LONG time to get all those banknotes in my album, but like you, I find they continue to elude me Kirk |

Jeff. Are you looking for the large bureaus as well? I've got an extra indigo Grant (#216) you can have gratis if you want it. Also an extra Jackson (#178) but it looks like your all set for that one. Drop me an email if you're interested. |

Jeff/ILS: I'm glad you started another thread in "Wanted to Buy" but I'm going to continue this one with some general information and questions. You've probably seen this, there may be others who have not. Below are a few images from the U.S. Design Series. Note, these are not Scott numbers but show the basic designs of all the large banknotes. For more about the PSE and Design Numbers, see my older thread https://goscf.com/t/4305The Large Banknote Series is dated 1870 to 1889. As shown in the scan, it started out with these First Designs of 1870 In 1875, there were Interim Designs. And the Final Designs were introduced in 1887. Again, no Scott numbers here, but maybe some clarification of the issues we're talking about. Finally, I have a QUESTION for the smart people.. Why were the subsequent designs introduced?Perhaps there was a rate change/increase that created the need for a 5¢ stamp -- I can understand that. Buy why TWO different 5¢ stamps? And the 2¢ -- why so many different designs? Aren't these color changes were pre-UPU? I guess I need to head over to http://www.1847usa.com/ and read up on my postal history KirkS |

Hello Amigos,
Sorry but I have a question for you; Were the National and American Banknote Company the same? Wich is the difference?
My question is based in the interest in the series issued by these companies wich issued Argentina stamps as well.
My best.
Luciano. |
