Backing Up Your Computer Data

Does anyone store discs / cds off-site? If so, how often do you retrieve them to update them? My concern is I would never do it.

For example, my "safety deposit box" is the mud room counter. For about 5 years, all my important papers have been sitting there waiting for me to take them to the bank. As more accumulates, I add to the grocery bag in which they are stored, and a lot of them are probably obsolete by now -- but in the case of that smokey room scenario, at least I know where they are - right there by the back door ...
