Here's another example of a costly mistake -- this time for an absentee ballot for voting. The town admits it made a mistake in indicating 61 cents rather than 65 cents postage would be required, but that the USPS issued a directive to all post offices to forward ballots with underpaid postage to the courthouse and they would pickup the extra costs in the account they have with the post office -- but apparently the contract postal unit (CPU) didn't get word of the request:
At the post office I go to, the lady usually just pats it and makes sure that it passes through the slot in their sorting machines. No twisting or anything...
I exchange unused Canadian stamps with my friend in Ottawa for his unused U.S...His Mom who is retired from management in Canada Post accuses us of jeopardizing her pension...oh well !!
