I must be a bad guesser. Since I joined, I've posted the following Sales ads -- a total of nearly 800 views but ZERO responses. So I would like to conduct an informal poll -- what item(s) are most of you looking for? Specific countries? Covers? Sets? Singles? After 60 years of collecting, I have a few of everything to offer, if I just knew what it was. I have over 2500 transactions on ebay, so it's not lack of experience (and a perfect 100% Feedback). Hello doug2222,
Personally I know I do not always see all the auctions or sales that are listed. I have seen some of yours and I always look in on the US items listed when I see them. I know I looked at the FDC lot of flags. I have a ton of FDCs but have yet to get into them too deeply, so I wasn't looking to add to the ones I have...yet.
I'm not a topical collector so I miss on those items.
Those are just small items and why I did not bid on them. I think it is just hitting on what someone is looking for or what fits into their needs.
I too listed one time a lot of WW stamps starting at .99 and there were a bunch of them. I got lots of looks but no bids. I think it just has to do with time on the board and finding what will meet someone's needs/ wants.
The main thing for sure is not to take it personally. I appreciate your additions to many of the threads here at SCF. And I'm always looking for US early items and covers and anything Ohio related.

I don't take it personally at all - this is merely a request for information; for instance, if I see several folks mention "U.S. singles before 1900 in the $3 to $10 range," you will see some listed, soon.
There are some advantages to SCF -- PayPal is not mandatory; ads can be freely edited, anytime; the Moderator knows where to find anyone who causes a problem; and members' reputations are on the line every time they post. Plus, you can shop in your pajamas. |

You only listed your auctions. I wonder, has anyone answered ANY of your threads? In all seriousness, and speaking only for myself, I either don't collect anything you have listed, and/or I think your prices are too high. You have to consider who your audience is, here. We are almost all internet-auction savvy buyers. Taking your GB 121 as an example, I found more than a hundred listings on ebay ranging in price from .99 (starting bid) and $2.80 (buy-it-now) and dozens of listings for under $10 (used). Personally, I always check ebay before buying anything. The market is ebay, and ebay is the market. Brian |

Hello Lori,
I am a transplanted Yankee from Ohio. I have not lived there since I was a kid and have not visited in many years, by I remember a lot from those times and Ohio will always be a part of me. Through stamps and covers I learn more about the state and interestingly family as well.
I was an army brat and born at the airforce base in Dayton. |

That sounds like an interesting childhood, sirruspoe. I bet you have seen many places and many things during that time. A sincere thank-you to your parent, or parents, that served our country. I am a life-long Ohioan. I now live on the same street that I grew up on. Many memories are here for me also. Including snow, and snow, and more snow! Yikes! I have an old stamp that has a big Cincinnati mark on it. I thought of it when I read your interest in anything Ohio. |

I looked at your sales ads. I collect only Canadian mint and have all of the Canada Animal Blocks already, so there was nothing that you've posted that I was interested in. Besides, I'm Canadian and you don't mail outside of the USA. |

Thanks for all your points of view. All my sales from now on, will indicate "shipped worldwide," that's one thing I learned today.
Don't know why some of you thought all those listings were auctions. I've only had ONE auction, and it was successful.
For Rileysan, I bid on that 10d starting at 99 cents; that seller starts all his Victorian-stamp auctions at 99 cents, and I'm going back and bid on about a dozen, to be sold in Australia if I win them. We'll see what it goes for. Most of the 10d's under $10 had faults and did not include postage.
Next week, I think I will offer U.S. singles only, and see how that turns out. None will be auctions. |

But Doug, you learned that a few days ago on the Germany auction ! If I see something I like on one of your auctions or sales but here is one tip. Put the word AUCTION or SALE at the start of your title header. It will help everyone, including yourself. So: SALE: Topicals-Hot Air Balloons. AUCTION: Germany Commemoratives 1980-2010 Etc etc Londonbus1 |

Doug2222 is a great seller on StampBoard for many years, he have the big experience to deal international orders. Doug, if you have the "cheap" China items for sale, I am interested with them. |

doug2222, Your QV stamp currently goes for around $5:50. I am presuming it is a SG210? |

doug, Another thing, the best place to sell a stamp from one country is to sell it to someone in that country. So you must be prepared to post to the stamp's country. The best way to sell is in the country's currency. So you would do better putting the QV in sterling, the Canada in CAD and so on. |
