A buddy of mine sent me this picture only moments ago of this US lighthouse that he visited within the past few days. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to see if there is a corresponding stamp image in the SCF vault and post that stamp image or images if that is the case. I believe there is. I have set a two hour time limit after which this thread might self-destruct.

Also known as Cape Neddick, Maine.

I believe the lighthouse on the Maine Statehood stamp is a different lighthouse (but perhaps they have rebuilt/remodeled it over the years?).

There are actually several Zazzle stamps showing Nubble Lighthouse. Somebody obviously really liked that lighthouse and had all their photos made into Zazzle stamps. I only downloaded one of them.

khj: for us neophytes - can you tell us what the zazzle stamps are. Is it like some enterprising company putting out a postcard-like product?

....and I may have outsmarted myself. I saw the house and thought it was the same one that was on the 1970 Maine Statehood lighthouse stamp (US Scott#1391).

Zazzle is a company that produces customized US postage stamps that are actually valid for postage. You submit the picture and they put it on the stamp.

I've never used them, but I know a few collectors who love them. I know Puzzler has posted several, and Dorinco has also posted several (but I don't remember if it was on this site or another Forum).

I did see a website that seemed to indicate it was the Nubble Lighthouse on that stamp, but that doesn't mesh with what is written in the Scott catalog. And also, as I mentioned, the lighthouse doesn't look exactly the same -- the one on the Maine Statehood stamp shows a square base.
