Not surprising. Probably all booklets within the problem sequence went to the same post office or to a limited number of offices.

I wonder how many booklets there are/were on a full sheet off the printer? If these stamps stay on the market a long time, it would be interesting to see if reports of these "blurry" stamps "go away"!

They are not printed in sheets when using gravure but are printed in rolls that may be as long as 30,000 feet. The printed rolls are then die cut either in line or off line and collated into booklets, small retail-size sheets, etc.

One could define a "sheet" as one full wrap around a cylinder but I don't know if this is common practice within this forum. Since the stamps in the booklet that I have are not blurry, one has to conclude the registration problem was corrected, but it's impossible to say how long it took.

According to the technical details posted in the Postal Bulletin, the plate size is 600 stamps (30 booklets) per revolution.

I totally forgot about the possibility of being printed in rolls, not sheets!

Thanks, wt1, for the info and one revolution would be the same as I postulated above as one full wrap around a cylinder.

I'm not familiar with the Postal Bulletin. What is it?

All collectors should be familiar with the Postal Bulletin. It's where all official information on postal operations (and stamps) are listed. It's available on-line (bi-weekly) at this link:
