I need to purchase 50 stamps of the coil release. As some know the USPS sells rolls of 10,000 for $400.00. I need to prepare some first day covers. Did anyone buy them and be willing to sell me some? Please send me an email. My deadline to mail them in is 3/2/14 so I still have a little time

Tom, I believe you can order ANY amount from the USPS website. Have you tried that?

It's being reported on another stamp collecting website that you can order from SFS a Coil of 100 using Stock #705605. (It's not recognized on the USPS Store's website, so you have to phone in the order.) HOWEVER, it is also being reported that some stamps aren't being shipped with the 2013 date, but have instead shipped the older 2007 dated stamp. So I guess it's the luck of the draw.

From a practical standpoint its only $4 for a coil of 100 so it may be worth trying, but how is one going to use up that many low value stamps if the wrong ones are received? Here's an idea: Buy a couple of panes of the 20c Washington stamps and of the 21c Lincoln stamps and add a coil pair of the 4c Chippendale Chair coils to make up the 49c first class rate. Kind of a pain to put 4 stamps on an envelope, but at least it's one way to use up the remainders.

The general rule is if the large roll coil stamp is 10 Cent or less, you need to purchase a strip of 100, 11 Cent and over a strip of 25- this applies to large rolls, not rolls of 100 which generally you need to buy all 100.

The order number for the 4c 1/4/2014 chipendale chair w/a strip of 100 is 705605 plus a SH fee of $1.25 for the entire order up to $50
then $1.75 SH.

Not quite right. The new postal rate increase also added a little known increase into the SFS order S&H charges. I understand the S&H fee is now $1.30 for orders up to $50 and $1.85 for orders over that amount. Not exactly budget breaking but it still represents an increase.

I think the reason the older stamps are sometimes being shipped is because when the order is placed the collector is just asking for a strip of 100 4 cent chippenale chair and not actually ordering #705605, they are being shipped #785615. Generally none of these are offered at USPS online store, you need to call the Stamp Fulfillment Services. They are meant as a service for collectors, not for general use. Be sure to be clear with the order number and I don't think they will be a problem. I order 2 different times with no problems.

Sometimes if you explain why you need them in such a hurry they will have them to you in 2 or 3 days with to other additional SH fees other than the $1.30. I find them very helpful.

I have a contact in the philatelic area in Kansas City who I can call. I can tell you that you can't get them online. I'll let all know what happens tomorrow.

I ordered yesterday a coil of 100 so hopefully it will go through okay. Also the new Ellison stamp.

It was reported on another site that as a result of the SFS receiving a number of "returns" for the 2014 (2013 date) version of the coil from the stamp collecting public it was discovered that there was an error in packaging for this issue (thus the reason why even by using the correct stock number, the wrong version of the coil was sometimes being shipped.)

It seems that SFS is now aware of the problem and is correcting their stock accordingly, so it should be that the correct version of the stamp will now be shipped without further difficulty.

I think I'm okay with my order as they came in a roll of 100 for $4.00. I specified coil coil coil so hopefully I get the right one.

And I got the 2013 dated chairs using order number 705605. Perhaps USPS decided to change the order number once they realized that there were two different chairs shipping under the old number.

If someone is interested I need a #1128 in pristine condition. I'm willing to trade a strip of 3 of the Chippendale 4c with the plate number. PM if you're interested.
