Hi.. I bought this cover at a stamp fair recently. I am new to this so I dont want to Sound nieve but.... on the reverse side of the cover were These stamps.. I THINK they may be scott 634a but if they are then , as far as I know, it would be the earliest know use of These stamps. the cancelation is Nov 1928 and it was sent from a stamp dealer to Germany.. If they are and it is, then I am looking for some advice as to what I should do next.. thank you in advance for any info. you may be able to provide me with..

11x10 1/2 . I know it seems unlikely but the cover is sent from 'City stamp Co., New York' and it is addressed to one J.Rosenberg, Berlin.. after a bit of Research on the web I believe this to be Jacob Rosenberg, who came from a well respected Family of art Dealers. He worked in the University of Munich and later became the curator of prints at Harvard University.. this is why I think it may be possible.. But of course I could be wrong about everything and just getting excited. |

hi.. this is it you see. I only started looking at stamps about a month ago and actually went to the stamp fair to get some other stamps looked at ( nothing worth mentioning).. and I only bought this cover because I liked the envelope..i didnt even notice the stamps that were stuck on the back of it (other stamps on the front)..but I am pretty positive it is a type2 and is definatly 11x 10 1/2.. either which way I am happy as it only cost me 8 euro.. |

Some magnifying glasses may distort what you're looking at, so be careful when using them with a perf gauge. You could try taking a picture of the stamp on the perf gauge then look at it more closely on the computer. I'd also take a bunch of pictures and hope one would give me a better look at whether it's a type I or II.
As others have said, it might very well be the 634 since that stamp was issued 2 years earlier. |
