He might not be too crazy. I'm not suggesting others repeat this guy's practices, but I can almost guarantee it gets more eyeballs on the other stamps he's selling, which are presumably priced more reasonably. I can't say that seeing these million-bucks-for-a-penny-stamp listings would inspire confidence in me to buy something else he's selling. But...enough people might get curious about the high priced listings, see what else he's selling, and then see something they actually want. Again, personally I'd have zero confidence in buying anything from the guy after seeing that, but I'm guessing he's just trying to lure eyeballs to his other listings.

I think that TheArtHinger has, well, artfully identified the key issue, to wit:

There are a *lot* of listings on ebay.

The only 'barrier to entry' (as it is known in The Dismal Science) is a little bit of time and, once you've got the hinge [sic] of it, you might be tempted to go thru the whole album - or everything in that pile that never made it into an album - and list, list, list.

This seller will be at the top of most any list of prices high-to-low, and his listing might even 'go viral' ... after all, here we are, keying about it.

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

Well, since you put it that way. You confer an excellent point. My like of curiosity combined with a pinch on time may have been the reason I looked no further. But now you have peaked my interest and I shall make time. Hence his marketing strategy has worked.
