I would advise passing this up.

At $10,695.00 I believe I will. Actually, at that price I don't have to be discouraged too much.

Are the Zeppelins fake because the plate # is on left selvage rather than top??? or color issues, perf issues all three????

Hi, Kevin... I didn't really go into a real detailed examination... I smelled too much "fish" at the outset... however, if (anyone) thinks there's $500 of value there, you never know... this goofball might accept the offer... (I won't be making it, though)...

It doesn't have anything to do with the placement of the plate numbers but rather the font and size of the numbers printed on the selvage which are incorrect, and the most glaring evidence that the items are not the real McCoy.

The Zeps and C3a are REPRODUCTIONS... no question about it...

The guy mentions over 300 stamps, but doesn't show them...

I'd say an offer of $200 for the collection is in order...

Here is the left margin 20095 that was sold by Siegel:

I doubt his "grandfather the philatelist" broke that block up, somehow magically altered the location of the plate number to be closer to the design, then stuck it in a $30 Statesman album.

The zep reproductions have all identical perfs if you examine them, including the selveges... and, you can likely find other repro's on ebay with the identical perfs...

Re : Replica's...

Now, here's one of the replica sellers... in Slovakia, no less...

Anyone with half a brain can see COPY is printed only on the gum...
so, a quick soaking and it's gone, and some donut-head only needs
to re-gum the stamp or offer it as NG and some other donut-head
will believe it's real and buy it... ho-hum...

Kevin504: Thanks.. was looking at my Durland and they showed top selvage.. The other comments are helpful but still being a 'novice' with classics I need to build on my reference resources (which this forum provide immensely).
