It would be nice if you would explain things instead of just slapping up a link.

220b is self-explanatory...

a simple click of the ebay link for anyone
shows what's needed...

"a picture is worth 1,000 words" as well as
the listing at the price...

It's not obvious to me at all. Do you want to help educate people or what?

Certainly... and I would more appreciate
the things you are saying in private email
as opposed to open forum...

Rather than your above statement, how about
something like...

"Thank you for your posting on SCF... kindly
provide some insight and detail, so our other
members will be able to benefit from the info
which you have provided"...

Bobby, I think he is referring to the fact that 220b has a cap on only the right "2". Look at the top of the "2".

AND....it isn't a 220b, until it's been certified. Could very easily, and probably more likely to be a fake.....

Hope this helps, Ray

Ray... most certainly it should be certed...
that goes without saying... but I'd really
doubt it's a fake... if I knew whom the buyer
was, I'd offer him $1,000 on the spot...

Could be a fake, could be a cap on both twos. The VSC6000 would tell for sure.

Sure... let's go fake a stamp so we can
sell it for $10,000 but accept $4.00 in
auction if we don't get our price...

Wonderful idea... what's the asking price
for the vsc6000hs these days... $25K? $50K?

I'll have to run out and make a withdrawl
from my retirement account and place an
order for one...

Thanks !

$50,000. The PF has one. PSE might have one. If you are looking for a cert, that is one of the tests you would like to see made to know accurately what the stamp is.

Well... (only) $50K... in that case,
perhaps we should recommend to every
collector on SCF to get one, so we
can all protect ourselves against all
of the crookery out there... perhaps
we can get a bulk discount...

Perhaps one of the mods could merge all these 220 with caps threads. I see 3 of the first 10 threads all basically have the same title, just saying....

The 2 on the left as viewed (under the cancel) looks odd to me. A bit thick through the waist, and the bottom curl is skinny.

Perhaps because there is no 220b listed in Scott, although there is a footnote stating "that the cap on right two is caused by imperfect inking, not a plate flaw". So it is not worth anything remotely close to $10,000, but much closer to the 70 cents the basic used stamp catalogs. The best you can hope for is that it really is a cap on both twos, otherwise you paid about 4X what it is worth.

Looks to me as if it could be a 220c, cap on both 2's, so should be looked at with more scrutiny. Agree with Bobby wrt more detail in the description/text being useful (but tact is also useful), as I was initially unclear about the point of the post.
