That's a real beauty! I was going to bid on it, but it has way too much attention for me!

Attention for this goodie will pretty much guarantee a high hammer price. I'll have to be content to just watch.

There's actually only 6 bidders... the rest are repeaters
by one of them... this stamp might be 'get-able' reasonably...

P.S. I would like to make ONE THING PERFECTLY CLEAR...

I am a COLLECTOR... I am NOT A STAMP RESELLER...
when I post something on SCF, it is for the benefit
of my fellow collectors... we sell hard drives on ebay...
NOT STAMPS, and have no short or long term plans to
sell stamps on ebay or any other venue...

I spend alot of my free time looking for material
for my collection and go through hundreds (sometimes
thousands) of ebay listings for things relative to
my personal interests, and when I see things unique,
not necessarily congruent to my personal interests,
but unique enough-whereas it might be to others, I'll
take the time to post on SCF for the benefit of others...
that's just the way that I am... I am a 'people person'
and, if I see something (I think) might be appealing
to others, I'll post it, to help them. If certain
'others' have a problem with this, I'm sorry... I am
not about to change anytime soon...

So, if (anyone) thinks I am showing items on SCF for
my personal benefit, nothing could be further from the
truth.

We sell hard drives on ebay... not stamps, hard drives...
and if anyone doubts that, I will happily either link
one of our listings here, or privately email it to
anyone... as incongruent as it may be to this venue...

Randall

Randall - did someone accuse you of something or infer that you were doing something for self-benefit? I hope you didn't think my comment about this stamp was meant in any way to be a personal comment towards you.

I was just commenting that I really liked the stamp and that with all of the attention, it probably would end up at a price beyond what I was willing to pay. At least for me, I didn't mean to have any comment directed towards you. Cheers, Dave

Dave, no... not you... however, I have
received 2 emails, to date, from people
whom I will not name... and, they are more
than welcome to (not read) anything I post...

I won't say anymore... I am here to have
fun, and, if possible, contribute to the
fun of others... if I am doing a poor job
at that, then I should be told that in the
forum for all to witness, and I'll stop...

That's all I will say on this...

It IS a very uncommon combination - a great large captured imprint margin AND socked-on-the-nose NYFM. Even if it has some minor flaws, it still should command a significant price.

I've been asked by a collector to look at this lot, and since this item was being discussed here I thought I'd post my opinion here as well. IMO, the stamp has a diagonal crease in the lower left corner, a fault in the upper right corner (including the possibility it's been torn off and reattached,) a nibbled perf at left (just above the captured imprint) that would be called if submitted, and some perfs that have likely been altered (partial reperf and/or improvement) at either top or bottom (or both.)

Granted, a substantial portion of the value here is in the cancel and captured imprint (it has fabulous appearance, and despite the problems is still a valuable item,) but if anyone here is valuing it as a sound stamp (or plans to submit for a cert based on the seller's description which mentions no faults,) IMO you're likely to be disappointed.

While this is a common cancel (my type GE-EP1)off cover (or on actually), the combination of the 90% strike and the nice encaptured part imprint should take the winning bid to over $100. I would guess.
